Sophie Evans

Sophie has a broad practice in all areas of Chambers’ work. She accepts instructions in crime, civil, employment and family law.

Crime
Sophie has extensive experience in both the Magistrates and Crown Courts, having represented clients in a range of hearings for offences ranging from driving offences to financial offences, to serious assaults.

Alongside the criminal law, Sophie is also experienced in Health and Safety matters, licensing, animal welfare and in defending disciplinary action by professional bodies.

Sophie regularly defends road traffic offences, from first appearances through to trials, special reasons, sentence and exceptional hardship arguments. She has a firm technical understanding of the complexities of the law in driving offences. She is able to provide realistic advice to clients and to clearly explain the Court procedures. She has a fantastic success rate in minimising penalties for driving offences.

Civil
Sophie has quickly developed a strong civil practice, and accepts instructions across a full range of civil law. She has a detailed knowledge of anti-social behaviour and possession proceedings. She also has extensive experience in personal injury and professional negligence actions, acting on behalf of both claimants and defendants. Sophie is a seasoned advocate, but is equally comfortable accepting paperwork instructions.

Employment
Sophie accepts instructions in all aspects of employment law. She recently successfully represented a Claimant in an unfair dismissal action against her former employers, a large care home company, securing a large amount of compensation for her client. She has a thorough understanding of the working of Employment Tribunals, and a strong grasp of the law.

Family
Sophie is experienced in both public and private law proceedings. She also accepts instructions in divorce and financial remedies matters. She is adept at handling vulnerable clients and witnesses alike.
